Booking
To book a Brian Burns presentation at your school, please email your inquiry to: or you can reach us by phone at (214) 354-1861. Performance Fees Our first response to your email or phone inquiry will be the current pricing schedule. We don't publish fees on this web site or in our promotional material because they vary depending upon location of show, number of performances required, etc. We will work with you to provide a presentation that is educational, entertaining, and cost-effective. We offer special discounts for multiple presentations at the same school, or at two or more schools in the same district when coordinated and booked at the same time. Now, for all of the necessary fine print (don't worry, it's all common-sense stuff): IMPORTANT: Before you make a booking agreement for this presentation, please consider the following carefully: by agreeing to an engagement at your school on a specific date and time, Brian is effectively taking himself off the market and agreeing to forego other opportunities for the same date and time. As such, it is imperative that he enter only into firm commitments; no tentative or contingency bookings. If you do not have the authority to enter into such a legally binding agreement, please have another representative with such authority contact us. We will vigorously pursue legal remedy for performance fees lost due to cancellations. Invoicing/Paperwork Upon booking a presentation, you will receive (by email) an invoice for the performance fee. If other paperwork is required by your school (W9, contract, vendor form, etc.) such paperwork should be provided at the time of booking, either by email to bburns@sbcglobal.net or by mail to: Brian Burns The paperwork will be completed and mailed back to you (please provide a return address). |
Payment Payment is due and payable on the date of the performance unless otherwise agreed upon in advance. IMPORTANT: If your school cannot pay on the date of the performance, that is fine, as long as such an arrangement has been communicated and agreed upon in advance. Please note that unless other arrangements have been clearly agreed upon in advance, the performance fee is payable and due on the date of the performance. The check should be made payable to “Brian Burns”. It has been necessary for us to adopt a rigid policy regarding this fee, so if there is any outstanding paperwork that needs to be completed in order to ensure that the fee can be paid and the performance can proceed on our agreed date and time, please let us know as soon as possible. Please understand: unless other arrangements have been clearly agreed upon in advance, if the check is not (a) available on the date of the performance, and (b) made out properly to “Brian Burns”, at the performers discretion the performance will be cancelled, or there will be a late fee that accrues weekly at the rate of 33% of the total amount due. Presentation Requirements First and foremost, Brian must be able to enter your building in order to present to your students. Therefore, the entrance door to your school's office must be unlocked upon Brian's arrival so that he can check in with your receptionist and have adequate setup time. Your school's office personnel must be informed of the presentation beforehand so that they will be expecting Brian's arrival at the school office approximately 45 minutes before the scheduled performance time. On a couple of occasions, Brian has arrived to perform only to be turned away by office personnel who had not been informed of his performance. This is considered to be cancellation without notice, and in such a case, the buyer is obligated to pay the performance fee in its entirety. Brian uses a state-of-the-art sound system that sounds clear and powerful in any sized room, from small libraries to mid-sized auditoriums and cafeterias, to large gymnasiums. The only requirement for the equipment is a grounded 120 volt electrical outlet (or equivalent extension) within 15 feet of the performance area. Safety of your students is of utmost concern; therefore, the performance area should be clear of students while Brian is loading in, setting up for a performance, and loading out afterwards. |
Presentation Guidelines Also see the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) Section To ensure a presentation that is enjoyable and rewarding for all, please consider the following guidelines: Students should be reminded of the rules of audience etiquette before the performance. The first half of the presentation focuses on historical material and the students should be attentive and refrain from clapping along to the songs. As the performance progresses, students will be invited to participate. By the end of the show, hopefully, the entire audience will be singing like the Vienna Sausage Choir! During his performance, Brian will conduct a fun question and answer session where audience members are encouraged to raise their hands and ask questions. Rude, disruptive, or disrespectful students should be attended to by faculty or administration and, if need be, removed from the room so that the other students can continue to enjoy the presentation. Brian reserves the right to terminate the performance at any time if he feels audience members are being overly unruly, disrespectful, or threatening. In such a case, the buyer is obligated to pay the performance fee in its entirety. These requirements and guidelines have been developed in the interest of the safety of your students, an on-time and quality presentation, and an overall experience that is fair and beneficial to all involved. As with any agreement, simple courtesy, common sense, and timely and effective communications carry the day. Autographs Brian is always honored to be asked to sign autographs; however, he usually has to decline due to scheduling constraints (it takes a considerable amount of time to sign several hundred autographs after a performance, and Brian is often due for a later performance in the area, or lengthy travel to another area). |
