NEVER GOIN' BACK TO MEXICO
Brian Burns - Brian Burns Music (BMI)
I met her in
a tavern ‘cross the border in Acuña,
my heart about quit beatin’ when she smiled.
She had that curly raven hair flung back upon her
shoulders,
and those dark and wicked eyes that drive men wild.
She said, “buy me a drink, and I’ll let you paint my
toenails.”
Well, I laid a hundred dollars on the bar.
That kiss she laid on me was like gettin’ struck by
lightnin’
while puttin’ gasoline in my car.
CHORUS:
I’m never goin’ back to Mexico,
don’t try to twist my arm ‘cause I won’t go.
I’ve got my souvenirs and this sad little tune,
I’m getting’ too damn old to be howlin’ at the moon,
I’ll drink my margaritas in a Ft. Worth saloon,
I’m never goin’ back to Mexico.
We made love
behind the dog biscuit factory in Reynosa,
we made love at Motel 5 in San Antone.
We ran so wild and free that it broke the heart in
me
when she told me it was time to take her home.
So one night I walked back into that tavern in
Acuña,
and I told her it was her I loved the most.
She said, “gringo boy, well, you’re cute from a
distance,
but it never was my aim to get too close.”
REPEAT
CHORUS
